Samson & DelilahMovie Review
Not really music related at all, but i loved it so much i need to tell you about it.
As soon as i heard the season of this movie was ending shortly, i rushed to the cinema to see this. And i am so glad i did.
This movie is one of the most beautiful love stories made and set in Australia that i've ever seen.
It revolves around two young, aboriginal teenagers raised in the slums of the Australian outback in a poverty-ridden area where everyone sleeps on moth eaten mattresess on grass, and survives on canned food.
Delilah, the young girl, looks after her grandmother who is terminally ill, and Samson is the troubled, petrol sniffing mute who lusts after Delilah.
After the sudden accidental death of her Grandma, Delilah is blamed and is repeatedly beaten by towns people seeking revenge.
Outraged Samson soon finds Delilah's battered body and goes on a destructive rampage. Smashing windows, beating people up, Samson loses control, steals the town ute and escapes the city, with Delilah.
The next hour is one of the most powerful cinema i have ever experienced. With very little dialogue at all, they tell the story with their emotions and do such an incredible job for first time actors.
This isn't everyones cup of tea, i actually didn't realise how much i loved this movie until the day after as it lingers with you hours after it's ending.
Haunting, visually stunning, powerful, shocking, depressed, joyful. I felt all these emotions in an hour and half, pretty impressive for a first time director, and a low budget Australian indie film.
I urge everyone to give it a try, go see it now as the season will end very soon. The scenery is amazing, and is intended to be seen at the cinema.
