Gossip Are Back...Bigger Then Ever (literally)

Gossip-Music For MenAlbum Review

Well it's been quite some time since we've heard from the dynamic trip that is Gossip and their latest offering makes us wonder what the hell were we listening to for the past 3 years?
Since there hit album Standing in the way of control they have been endlessly touring and it only occured to them that they should write a new record after a fan approached them and asked when they were going to do another album.
"well when do you want us to stop touring" Beth Ditto then replied. But alas, it must have a struck a chord as they hit the studio soon after and produced this Gem, hilariously titled Music For Men. I think this is their most solid work yet,and i can't really say that i was too much of a fan of their earlier work, but to me this is what they are supposed to be, they have discovered their sound.
Beth Ditto's voice is shining through in every track with such confidence and fire, that every track is radio-worthy but has enough sass and individuality to stay the indie-rockers that they have labeled themselves as in previous years.
I actually can say, by listening to the album in its entirety just 4 times, that i can say i'm a fully fledged fan now. I would deffiantly fork out $90 to go see them live (even just to see how big Beth actually is) and i deffiantly would fork out $16.99 for the album, which i did.
My favourite songs are ofcourse their first single of the record Heavy Cross which can be almost be confused with Standing In The Way.. but has alot more edge to it. Other gems are Four Letter Word, Men In Love, and For Keeps which i'm sure will soon rocket them into mainstream superstardom. I hope that dosn't happen anytime soon though, i can just see them conforming to major label needs, changing their sound to manifactured excessed pop and ultimately resulting in Beth losing half her body weight, oh the horror!. I couldn't imagine her being healthy, and i don't want to either. Is that too harsh?
Anyway, weight aside, this is slick, edgy 13-strong track album that is deffiantly for keeps!
By it now at all good record shops, and iTunes.
